New journal: Akropolis

The Center for Hellenic Studies (Podgorica, Montenegro) is pleased to announce the launch of its annual publication, Akropolis: Journal of Hellenic Studies.

Akropolis is an international peer-reviewed annual scholarly journal, devoted to the study of Hellenic culture and civilization from antiquity to the present, featuring high-quality research in all areas of Hellenic studies: philosophy, religion, archaeology, history, law, literature, philology, art.

To be considered for publication in the first volume of Akropolis, manuscripts should be submitted to akropolis@helenskestudije.me by December 5th 2017.

Prospective authors should consult the Instructions for Authors, as well as the Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement. 

Executive Director of the new Journal is the Montenegrin researcher Filip Ivanović.

International Journal of the Platonic Tradition 11:1

First issue of Gnosis: Journal for Gnostic Studies Published

The theme of the issue is "Gnostic Countercultures," with a slew of papers on Gnosticism (sensu lato) and transgression. Topics covered range from ancient Gnostic sources to Neoplatonic theurgy, the modern reception-history of Gnostic themes, Gnostic fiction (even in graphic novels), and American Hoodoo. Studies in Late Antiquity: A Journal (SLA) is a new online quarterly journal published by the University of California Press. The journal is scheduled to launch in February, 2017.

SLA aims to publish scholarship on a wide range of topics pertaining to the world of Late Antiquity (150 – 750 CE). A defining focus of the journal is fostering multi- and interdisciplinary research that emphasizes the interconnectedness of the Mediterranean with other parts of the late ancient world. Comparative and methodologically innovative papers are especially welcome.

SLA encourages submissions from scholars working in the following regions and languages therein during the period 150-750 CE:

Africa, Anatolia, Arabia, the Baltic, the British Isles, Central and Western Asia, China, Europe, India, the Mediterranean, Persia, Scandinavia

SLA welcomes contributions that explore the following fields and topics:

Archaeology, Cultural Geography (including Cartography), Economics, History (including Cultural History), History of the Arts (including Architecture, Art, and Music), Law, Literature and Rhetoric, Material Culture (including Codicology, Epigraphy, Numismatics, and Papyrology), Historical Demography, Philology, Philosophy, Religion, Theology
